- Structure
- RT-3's 39 residues include three non-coded amino acids — two 2-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib) residues and an α-methyl-leucine — which protect it from enzymatic cleavage. Lysine 17 carries a C20 fatty diacid joined through a γ-glutamate and AEEA spacer; the lipid binds serum albumin.
- Pharmacology
- A single molecule active at the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucagon receptors. In published in-vitro characterization it is more potent than native GIP at the human GIP receptor, and less potent than the native ligands at the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors.
